As technology advances and portable screens get bigger, there is a growing chance that people will want to communicate verbally and visually. Getting an app that handles this type of communication will always be handy. Getting the Tango app will also put you in touch with more people.

Tango, much like other communication apps on Android establishes connections using phone contacts. You will need to supply your phone before registering but you won't receive any security code. Once that is done, your phone contacts will appear in Tango.

Friends can be chatted and you can also send a message to multiple contacts. The chat window contains the controls to initiate a call. Calls are integrated into the chat window so for example you may leave a message connected to an unanswered video call that appears with a time stamp just as a chat message would.

Discover People is a feature that lets you flip through profiles of others, you may select if you want to see males, females or both. You can then contact them or simply wink at them (which is a sort of appreciation gauge since the total number of winks will be displayed on each user). All of the users that you've winked at will appear in your Favorites. It is good to mention that you may open chat with anybody.

Another feature of the Tango app are the Rooms. There you can enter in open chat on all sorts of pop culture subjects (warning, there's no moderation).

In case you don't want to mingle in the public space, you can always chose not to appear in searches or Discover and disable other public settings.

There's also such a thing as a News Feed. There you will see updates from your contacts that have changed their pictures or have commented on a thing or another. There's also a notification panel that informs you if anybody's birthday is coming up or if anybody got an achievement playing other Tango app.

Conclusion

Tango works fine except that the social aspect is not really shining. There's barely any typing in English and the parts that an English speaking person will understand are the explicit sexual invitations for video chats. Parents should be aware of that. Using Tango for communication purposes only is entirely possible though.
